"Now get off your asses and fix this. Let's do something and let's fix the biggest goddam crisis in the history of this country," an emotional New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin pleaded Thursday night in a radio interview.

Nagin blasted the federal government, saying he was "pissed" at the lack of help the historic city had received.

"We authorized $8 billion to go to Iraq, lickety split. After 9/11 we gave the president unauthorized powers, lickety split to help New York and other places," he said. "You mean to tell me that a place where most of your oil is coming through ... that we can't figure out a way to authorize the resources that we need," said Nagin.

Uhhh.. he's the FVCKIN mayor of the god damn city. Why is he blaming bush for his lack of proper planning. Sorry that guy just lost all my respect.

It has been posted many times this morning, though this may be the first time it has its own thread.

a mayor only presides over his city, not the rest of the state, or fema, or washington dc.

It's not just Bush...it's the house and senate who have waited until today to finally approve money needed to pay the FEMA folks.

I don't think he's helping out by freaking out and potentially causing even more unrest. But wtf why is he blaming Bush and bringing Iraq into this. He should be reassuring his freakin people, not inciting more unrest. It's one of teh biggest natural disasters to hit us modern day, shat like this takes time.

edit: he does have some good points in the interview

Guy is a major league a$$hole. Blaming everyone but himself for the piss poor planning. Yes the Governor dropped the ball, in my opinion, by not declaring Marital Law but the Mayor is really making himself look like a douchebag. I understand his frustration, but he should know that aid doesn't appear overnight. Especially when most of the roads in are destroyed, the airport was not fully functional until today, and you have people shooting at the people trying to help them.

yeah, way to plan ahead. They knew that there was potential of something major happening like this a long time ago, yet it looks like no plans were put in place. It's a clusterfvck from the ground up, lets hope something will change.

#1 reason there are problems in NO: Because even though everyone knew FOR YEARS that this was coming (on weather.com, there was a blog entry from a guy that said he mother talked about "the big one" his whole life), nobody wanted to listen, and nobody moved out of town.

WHAT THE FVCK DID THEY EXPECT?! This has been coming for YEARS! For DECADES! It's not that I don't feel bad for them, but if you didn't know this was coming and you lived in NO, you're an absolute moron.

And don't tell me some were too poor to move. MOVE OUT OF THE BOWL! It would take a person on foot any more than a day or two to get to an area that's outside that bowl and above sea level. At least then, when the sh1t hits the fan, you're in an area where WATER CAN DRAIN OUT OF, and supplies can get to in a reasonable amount of time.

How many times did he drop a god damn? Then he turns around and makes a reference to god punishing people for not doing all they could. There's a word for what he is. Gee, wonder what it is?

<---Is not religious and drops the god damn all the time but doesn't then turn around and tell people god is going to punish them.

Yep, she fvcked that one up big time. Just another reason women shouldn't be allowed to have power. :Q 😉 Just kidding about the last part of course.
