new orleans man beaten by police

They (the cops) have pleaded "Not Guilty" :| Really? The tape has it all. I don't understand that one!

Yes a saw it on the news last night. A high ranking police official came on and stated that all the police are under alot of stress from the disaster in the area so it's understandable something like that would happen.

Yeah OK>

Caught the very end of this yesterday morn, but couldn't find anything online.

all they showed then was the dude lying in his own blood.

The rest of the video is pretty intense. There's no call for that.

Did that happen recently?

yea like 2 days ago

the dude was in his 60s a retired teacher, teh cops claim he was drunk or some sh!t and he resisted arrest, didnt look like he was resisting anything untill he started to get his ass kicked by 4 cops,

the Dpt put those 3-4 cops on leave, they have been charged with battery, and the justice department is opening an investagation into it possibily being a hate crime

You'd never see that from british police, seems these guys are on a power trip. When is it ever productive to smack a guy in the head ffs? Surely they just need to cuff them then carry them to the police van/car. That's all you ever see in the UK, even when guys are *really* resisting. It just takes several cops to get the person cuffed, which they blatantly had in this situation. No need to attack the old man.

Sick.

wrose part is that the one cop on horseback tried to block the camera man from filiming it then it looked as if the other cop was going to attack the AP camera man as well.

This is why most people in the states don't trust cops to keep them safe. They'd just as soon bash your head in as help you out.

Certainly not all of them. This is yet another case of some giving the rest a bad name. Even looking all hippy-like as I do, I've only ever been harassed by one cop (in Georgia). The rest have all returned the respect I showed them.

NEWS FLASH!!!, when the cops are about to arrest or question you, DO NOT resist them in any way. Anyone that does is stupid, regardless of whether or not the cops are justified.

Oh great...he's a black dude. More racial divide and anger to come.
actually the guy who got beaten has said he doesn't feel this was a racial issue.
good for him for telling the truth.

in his defense from that tape it DOES NOT look like he deserved what he got.

They should take all those police that were involved, bystanders included, and allow the dude to beat the fvck out of them.

It's not really clear that he did. The tape doesn't make it appear he was resisting at all.

That said, I agree with you. I am always uniformly (no pun intended!) polite and courteous to police, even if I'm refusing to answer their questions.
