From monarch:

Pre-Tested and Setup AMD Athlon 64/FX/X2/Opteron 100(939) Combo

Motherboard: 110799 - DFI Lan Party UT nF4-D Audio/GB-LAN/IEEE/ $115.00

Processor: 120338 - AMD Opteron 165 Dual-Core 1.8GHz 1MB $339.63

and then for RAM, maybe this:

1 GB (2 pcs 512) DDR (500) PC-4000 PQI Mirrored Black (PQI4000-1024DB) $116.00

PSU: Antec TP2-550EPS ATX 2.01/EPS/SSI 550W Power Supply $86.99

I am making this thread to see if you think my components go well together, both in general and for OCing the CPU. This is going to be my first build. I also need advice on the best fan for it. With a good heatsink (less than $50), what speed do you think I can hit safely, 2.6? I am trying to decide if the opterons are worth the extra cheese they are fetching lately. Thanks!

That looks good except that I think that I you could get better memory for cheaper if you order it from some where other than monarch

And an xp-90 would be a good hs/f

any ram suggestions? I might just go with 1 GB Corsair value, would that make the CPU OC less than optimal?

seeing how your going with the dfi lanparty board if you haven't yet ventured over to dfi and check this out you may find it worthwhile. Then in response to your question about ram there is another thread that could lend credence to what you are doing with your systsem. Many other threads and artilcles that can save you time an give accurate information are there for the viewing.

beware of valuram on the DFI..esp corsair..this is according to Angrygames from DFI street...he is a mod

I have crucial valuram..2x 1gb...works fine on my DFI SLI DR

I would not waste money on high end ram..use a divider..latency is just not important on the A64, opteron...very little adv or gain...check Zebo's awesome thread
