New Official Silicon Image SiI3x12A SATA Drivers Here.

This brings us up to version 1.00.47. I believe that M$ was distributing a driver with this version # a few days ago, but the install would fail. A blurb on the download page linked above does say: "For anyone having problems updating the latest 3112 RAID driver from the Microsoft Update site, the attached version will address the problem.(until Microsoft updates their update site)." This driver installs fine on my NF7-S R2 system.

I have no idea what these drivers fix, but I can tell you that they didn't break anything on my system. Nor did it affect my performance in either direction. I don't even know why I installed them.

Hmm, my link above doesn't work properly. :( Here is a link to the actual download: LINKAGE

Thanks, The old ones on WU didn't install for me even though I have the .47 SATA bios. I'll try these out in a bit.

So far only thing I have noticed it CPU utilization has gone down a little bit in HDTach2.70

Not a problem. Also, JBT, I noticed a lower CPU utilization % too. Performance stayed constant with lower overhead, I guess that's reason enough to update to these drivers.

Impressive, HDTach doesn't report a difference (maybe because Acoustic Management is on fast) but my NF7-S R.2 is noticeably snappier. Thanks for the heads up Megatomic! :)

Brought me down from ~30% CPU usage to ~25% in HDTach, and the burst speed is almost always at 100 now, opposed to ~95.

I don't think Silicon Image or ASUS support end user flashing of the onboard SiI controller. But over at NForcersHQ there are some guys that use a utility called CBROM to update the mobo BIOS with the latest code for the SiI controller. I've never tried it so I don't know how to do it exactly.

Tutorial - Use at your own risk. :)

Doesn't the latest UBER BIOS release also have the updated SATA BIOS?

I just recently worked on porting a SI3112/4 driver for FBSD 5.2 only to find someone did it for me in FBSD 5.2.1 ---- doh!

I LOVE my SI3114 - How awesome is SI anyway? A little off topic i guess i just thought i had something relevant to talk about.

Well, I am not as impressed with my Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA on my SiI 3112A as I thought I'd be but it's nice to have 2 additional channels for drives in my system. Perhaps the next BIOS for the SiI will fix performance...
