Essential components: an old Schwinn five speed. The lower shaft gear was the rear five gear module, the whizzer removed the largest three gears, hence the gleaming silver.

The chain is obviously the bicycle chain, it's just been resized down. The upper gear was the pedal gear, the pedals have been removed.

Bearings are just pieces of PVC pipe. Shafts are 1/2" threaded steel rod.

Fan assembly uses a 2.8" diameter 1.15" thick pine hub, with four slots to support four blades that are reminiscent of coffin shapes. The blades have been wrapped in saran wrap to reduce leading edge and face friction. The hub face was also sanded.

Box is 10.5" by 20" of 3/4" laminate press-board. It'll offer some turbulence to the fan, but the fan is at the end of a 6" length of the shaft, so it should reduce that problem.

Output shaft is just 2" long, which is sufficient, and has about 15" above ground clearance.

I don't know the exact mechanical advantage. I'd guess the input gear to be 2.5" diameter, and the output gear is somewhere around 8" diameter. So the mechanical advantage should be somewhere around factor of 3.

The friction level is a little unfortunate, the PVC and threaded steel is a little sluggish, and the powdered graphite didn't do a damn thing.
