Sorry, just a little raged out.
At a certain high-level university, at least one member of the faculty has admitted that he will not even consider applicants who graduated from a state school. I do not recall if this was related to graduate school admissions or faculty search.
And I'd tell that faculty member to go fuck himself if he said that to me. Purdue is a state school and has put more men on the moon then that "high-level university" you're referring to. :awe:
Time to flirt with the secretaries!
I also know from seeing my basic engineering course that in terms of real ability, in terms of seeing the problem, understanding the problem, and solving the problem, I was roughly tied for best in the class. The only competitor was a 45 year old ex-Air Force enlisted male.
My grades have never really reflected my abilities, and no grade can ever display that sort of aptitude.
Not just that I'm pissed about it, but hell, I don't want the rest of those idiots building bridges to have to drive on tomorrow. I wouldn't trust them to build a freaking park bench.
Still no answer from the Dean, not that I expect anything good from him.
Oh, if he were willing to issue an exception, the rage emanating from the Chair would be HILARIOUS.
Except if that does happen, you've blown all your political capital and I guarantee, no more exceptions.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. Really, I'm not. I'm telling you, though, that it is going to be getting rougher in the 300 and 400 level courses. I also remember a time in a 600 level course test where I had a problem and I didn't have a formula for it on my sheet. Guess what I did? I derived the formula completely from scratch. This is the thing you have to be able to do as an engineer and it involves calc, physics, etc. They are important.

I've always liked posing and taking pictures since I was a little girl. I've participated in pageants; once when I was around 9 and again when I was 17. I love to dress up and take pictures. I love to go out and look cute and take pictures anywhere indoors and outdoors. I like to experiment with new things and love new ideas and artsy ideas. I like to draw and paint when I have the urge to. I took a photography class in 8th grade and again my junior year in highschool. I like being either the photographer or the person in the picture. I love to buy clothes sometimes just for the heck of it to take pictures in. I've thought about a possible career in modeling. My family and friends say i'm pretty tall (for my race) haha. I find that as an advantage in this field and hope to use my height and fashion sense for modeling. If you are interested in doing a shoot, i'm always down. Feel free to send me a message and we'll go from there! =)
