no they are gonna charge all of us 25$ for it and if we want to keep our current plate number its an additional 15$

Found my answer.

Each driver with a registered vehicle will need to spend $25 to get the new mandatory plates. A few county clerks, including Kathy Hochul from Erie County are opposed to the mandate. They have started an on-line petition to prevent the change from taking place.
