Guess it means it has the same clock speeds as a standard 6800NU just w/ 8 pipes.

um...standard 6800NU only has 8 pipes available.....(in some cases other pipes can be unlocked tho, so i guess this means it literally only has 8 pipes total)

The 6800LE already has 8PP/4VP and is clocked at 300/350(700).

The XT probably has higher clock speeds.

I guess they found a bucket of gpus in the janitor's closet that failed validation and decided to do something with them.

so why did the original release, way back when, have the 6800 vanilla with 8 pipes? the X800 Pro had 12 pipes, the Dell GTO had 12 pipes, the GT, Ultra and X800XT had 16.....

that was in PC Gamer with a branded card......cant remember which tho..lol

the 6800le's came out first, they are 8 pipes, the vanilla's should be 12 pipes, some manufactors may have not mentioned that a card was le on the box

i thought they stopped selling le's but this looks like nvidia is taunting ati

I find it funny that ATI and Nvidia are so competitive with one another that they even make potshots at eachother with their nomenclature: ATI trying to match the 6600GT with a 'GT' of their own (X800GT), and now Nvidia coming up with an inferior 'XT' product - the 8 pipeline 6800XT. Looks like ATI will have to use another suffix for their flagship card if Nvidia gives XT a bad name.
