New NVIDIA drivers... What do Gridlines do?

So NVIDIA released new drivers today and one of the new features is the ability to section off your screen with Gridlines.

My guess is that these function somehow similarly to gridlines in a paint program like Photoshop (snap to grid) but I can't figure out what they do.

boring !!

When I first fired up Red Hat Linux, that was the best feature I liked. The fact that you could switch through multiple desktops - that is beautiful.

They allow you to organize the desktop into rectangles in which you can "maximize" windows. Check a review of the Det 52's / Forceware drivers at ExtremeTech (or THG, IIRC), it should cover GridLines. I'm sure nV's Release Notes pdf for the latest drivers will explain GridLines in more detail--check their site.
