You doubted? I wonder how they do on GF4 cards?

Well AMB (member here) has just got them installed on his GF3 and is testing them out right now with some games,so I should get feedback soon, his broadband is just too fast compared to my 56k modem since I`m still downloading them.He did say he just installed them over the top of the old 43.45 drivers.

:)

Not sure on GF4 series, but here is an interesting read on the new driver set using the low/mid-range FX cards.

Read the video thread.

I run a Ti4200 clocked up to 4400, and I saw a hefty 2000 point leap in 3DMark (yes, I ran Application/Quality filtering on both) and the IQ looks the same, if not better. AA/AF performance got a serious kick in the arse too.

we are talking about 3dmark 2001 right? I LOST performance going from 43.45 to 44.03. Obviously this is a fubar bench but the large performance loss was over 10fps in Nature, all other tests had marginal increases.

Ti4200 128MB stock
2.91ghz P4 161fsb
MSI 655 MAX mobo
1024MB Dual Channel DDR333 CAS 2.5/3/3/7/2T

I have a Gainward GeForce4 Ti4200 with the drivers that came with it (I think they're really old). I'm having some problems that I think are video card related, so I want to update to the new ones. Do I have to uninstall the old drivers before I do anything, or can I install the 44.03 on top of them?

If I have to uninstall first, how do I do this? Wouldn't everything get screwed up as soon as I uninstall them (aren't they necessary for stuff to work..?)

Thanks

just use add/remove programs in the control panel to uninstall, then reboot and install the DetFX :)

ruff it will be ok if you unistall the drivers, after a reboot windows will use a default driver and you'll be dumped into 640x480 with 16 colours. Just install the new drivers, reboot again, and you'll be all set.

I was feeling lazy and just installed them over the top of the old ones,no problems with games etc that included 1 hour online in TFC.
The image quality is good with the 44.03 drivers.

If you`re using other drivers like Gainward `s etc then you should remove the old ones first, going from Nvidia to Nvidia drivers you can normally get away with installing over the top in most cases.

Anybody that wants to do a super clean install of drivers, then Driver Cleaner 1.4 is what you need.

Whenever I do the uninstall-reboot thing with XP, the damn hardware wizard always slaps the MicroSuck drivers in there. Yes, I love running year-old drivers for my video card, Uncle Bill.

How the hell do I stop that from happening? :p

According to an Extreme-Tech article, nvidia appears to be cheating to falsely inflate its 3DMark2003 scores.

used with my 4200, can tell no differance between them and previous. notice that the whql is only valid when running on geforcefx hardware?
