Saw this comment in a discussion from the author of the Hexus.net review of the 9600XT which he compared with the NV 36 (5700) and the new drivers:

I wrote the review confident that a WHQL stamped 52.16 will be released on the 23rd, I stand by that. If they release something else, I'll leak 52.16 personally

I hope and pray that these new Detonator 52.16 drivers are all that as I want to see the GeForce FX-5900 Ultra succeed even though I have a ATI AiW RADEON 9700 Pro. We need both ATI and nVidia to do well...for the sake of our wallets, know what I'm sayin'?
 
yea, if one starts to dominate, there goes the extra 512mb of ram i was gonna get, and things like that
I wanna see how the 5700 does in the benchmarks, as i am leaning towards getting ATI now, i am nVidia in my heart, so i'll wait and see how it does then decide what to get.
