I'm looking for suggestions on a new notebook. heres what I found on Newegg. $1300 is the price range and CPU is at least T8600 or higher.

ASUS N70 Series N70SV-X1 - 17.3"

ASUS N90 Series N90Sv-X1 - 18.4"

what do you guys know about GeForce GT130M? What it equivalent to?

SONY VAIO FW Series VGN-FW485J/H - 16.4"

MSI GT725-212us - 17"

MSI GT725-074us - 17"

Looks like you want a portable desktop, and not a roady. Of all you listed, only this one has a eSATA port: MSI GT725-212us

woww... that MSI is a beast. quad core, 4850 and 1920x1200 for $1k. good deal. oh and onboard 4.1 speaker system? u kidding me?
better deal is their 15.6" Asus with a gtx 260m, led backlit display (only 1920x1080 though), and twice the hd space (includes some accessories too)
interesting, they are in japan? wonder how trustworthy they are.

which asus machine would that be?

I'm not sure which co are you refering to that is japanese.

MSI, I believe is based in Taiwan.

Asus is American I think.

Quad core cpu?, dunno, Quads aren't necesarily the fastest cpu on the block. I've heard that this quad model struggles in some games.

I threw that one in for comparison.

I'm looking at maybe getting the last one, msi 725-074. did find one that is selling under $800. If I get that I may upgrade its T8600 cpu to the T9700.

That MSI is a great deal in your price range. I was just looking at that for me but decided I couldn't live with the max 4GB of RAM. I decided to go with the Asus G71Gx, which seems a little out of your price range. HP has the HDX18t in your price range with some great cupon codes for HP.com out there, and Sony Vaio has some nice ones on NewEgg and other sites.

tachynon, the website with those hot deals seems to be based in Japan. i'm assuming you found it with google shopping. it has no reviews anywhere though, which is why i question it.

good catch... you're way sharper than I was.

tachynon.com seems suspiciously a scamming website.

I ordered it from that site. Noticed something odd about the ordering process, no page to the credit card info.

they sent me an email confirming the order. Next day, they sent me another email which provided a link to ebay.

they want the payment in the form of a $500 ebay gift card. when they receive the gift card, they ship the merchandise , the remainder is paid in a COD retainer. they appear to be based in japan as you've mentioned.

If you can tolerate something slightly weaker than what you want and a refurb, B&N has an Asus for $700 here
My friend got one from tigerdirect (refurb as well) with same gpu but p8400 and it runs great. Resident Evil 5 is playable with everything on highest. Other than 1 or 2 tiny marks on the plastic case, it was impossible to tell it wasn't new when he got it. Oh, and don't forget bing cashback (10% last time I checked for B&N).
