New Northbridge stepping on 8RDA+?

After hoping to get an A3 stepping here

I received my 8RDA+ rev 1.1 with an even newer one.

It's marked:

G31926.1 0307A1
S TAIWAN

Anyone have this stepping? The chip appears to be flat to me. It has no gold circle.

Appears to be a new series....

A1 is the C1 that everyone's been talking about, and it is said to manage 230fsb@1.65v vdd. Very nice! I hope my new Mushkin is a winner so I can get a new board with the A1 chipset!

Yea, I read the new stepping is just made to handle the 200Mhz FSB atlons better. But that just means to most is "OVERCLOCK HEAVEN"!!!!

I've got mine running at 200 FSB . I oughta crank down the multiplier on this board and try for a higher FSB. *drool* 220 FSB 🙂 would be awesome.

Phil

P.S. My VDD voltage stays around 1.5-1.6 kinda weird. usually averages around 1.56 or so

Sounds good. Anyone using the "Ice Berg" cooling kit for these North and South bridges?

I am. I'm planning on getting the Vantec Iceberg after reading this. My VDD is around 1.56V and I'm a little scared of doing the VDD mod :Q

I installed my Vantec Iceberq last night.. I gained a whopping 3MHz in FSB! lol... I went from 180 to 183. Anything higher just isnt stable, and yes I do know that my RAM runs @PC3200 speeds. I guess I have no choice but to look into the vdd mod if I want to hit 200 :| (BTW my NB is 0249A3)

On a different note, I also replaced a cheap cooler master hs/f with the Vantec Aeroflow. What a difference! Increased my overclock by 100+ MHz.. currently prime'ing away on 183 x 11 = 2013 @1.85 volts and my temps have dropped from 50 to 45C 🙂

Is 1.85 volts safe? I was told 1.8v is like the safe limit.
