Hi all:

___I saw the release of the Tualatin/Coppermine-T? this morning and word over at Tom's HW forums is that these beauties will run on the I815E/EP std. and not just the newer I815EP-B0's for the Tualatin?s. Has anyone heard anything of this just yet? This is not 1.4 GHz at 1.7 GHz T-Bird territory but it will help some of not quite on the bleeding edge anyway ;)

___Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Woo- the TUSL 2 is showing up on Pricewatch for $131

I thought the common theory was that there were different pin out configurations and voltage requirements for the 13um cpus. Currently the 815E AGTL+ 1.5V i think and the newer ones are meant to be 1.25V AGTL or something like that.

Anyway i'd be surprised if it pans out and ends up working- but fingers crossed

Just checked the abit website, just checked the latest bios for the Abit BX-133 raid motherboard, which is based on the good old BX chipset and this is what it says:

1. Supports Intel Coppermine T CPU

I am really looking forward to some test of this, so far people are saying it wont work but I haven't seen anyone try it out.

you need to read HOCP they e-mailed abit about it.

<< There is and has been confusion about what exactly Tualatin CPUs will work in as we stated earlier. It seems as if Tualatin CPUs are not backwards compatible with BX or i815 chipsets. When I posted this earlier I got this mail from Don Goff that pointed us to this link which we had posted a month or so ago that states this, "Supports Intel Coppermine T CPU." about their BIOS upgrade for the ABIT BX133 RAID board. Admittedly I am a bit confused about this too so we asked ABIT what exactly the deal is and here is their response.

Kyle,

OK, I have it. It is the confusion about CopperMine CPU vs. CopperMine-T CPU vs. Tualatin CPU.

The CopperMine-T was the CPU that was the bridge between the CopperMine and Tualatin platforms. The CopperMine-T can work in BX boards, usually through a BIOS update.

The Tualatin CPU has a different pinout and simply will not work in a BX board. I have confirmed this with our R&D and FAE so have to believe that this time it is true.

Scott.

So, as stated before, Tualatins will not be backwards compatible.
