I presently use the NF-S12s in my main PC's case & on my Ultra 120 eX, but i know there's been lots of complaints that they don't do as well on tight airflow spaces, like between heatsink fins, etc.

Looks like Noctua addressed that with these new NF-P12s 🙂

mmmm... its sexy

But you couldnt pry me away from yate loons. Hands down the best fans in price/performance/noise area.

I plan to get one of these to replace the 1600RPM S-flex fan I've got on the Thermalright Ultra Extreme. On paper it looks like they'll push more air and are less noisy at the same time.

Just what we need, a fan peddler using fabricated language - "psychoacoustic" - what claptrap... Yup, if you believe what they're saying, you're the psycho! Wanna buy a SilenX? Or some Blose? 😉

Psychoacoustics isn't a fabricated language.

In any case I'd imagine these fan's being worth the premium dollar they are going to charge considering their previous models were good at what they were being sold for, being quiet.

I believe the rated CFM for their model with ULNA or LNA is about 55, so if that 19 dB is accurate thats not half bad.

never heard those complaints before... I use one on my Corsair Nautilus, I swapped the rad out for a Black Ice Pro and use the Noctua for that.. works great, it's quieter and cooler now..

and I have those new fans on the way, can't wait to try them out....

In regard to phans, the term "psychoacoustic" has no relevance. Relevance is to room acoustics, speaker placement, signal phase shifting to localize sounds, etc. But the way Noctua uses it is total hooey. Unless they intend for you to use an array of them located about the room. "Words mean things", so use them correctly. Ad writers and politicians break that rule all the time. Don't fall for it.

Marketing Tip #1:
If you use big words in your product advertising the more the customer will assume it must be good.

😛

LOL @ comparing Noctua to SilenX.

They make extremely good silent/quiet fans for those of us who prefer low noise to absolute best performance.
Obviously, there are fans out there that push a ton more air, but not w/o a ton more noise.

While you can get good cheap fans like Yate Loons, i don't like the YLs because they're a pain for easy cable management, whereas the Noctuas come beautifully sleeved already, not to mention the lower voltage adaptors they include for lower RPM saves one from having to manually mess w/ undervolting etc.

They might be pricey, but they're very high quality fans.

dampeal, after SPCR reviewed the NF-S12s & basically gave them #1 recommendation for silent yet good performance airflow, tons of people bought the Noctuas (myself included).
The biggest complaint made was that static pressure wasn't as good, therefore rendering it slightly less than the best for use blowing thru very tight spaces like heatsink fins, certain case vent, etc.
They mention how they address that here: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?..._p12_comparison&lng=en

When i can find a CND e-tailer with them in stock, i'll likely pick some up...see if they do any better with my Ultra 12 eX than the NF-S12s.

I just got 5 of the new Scythe 'Slip Stream' 120mm fans, ranging from 500rpm to 1900rpm...

I just got finished testing them the 500,800 and 1220RPM versions are bascially silent, adding no extra noise to the system, they also seem to work very well at moving air through tight spaces...
I test them using a CPU cooler to see how well they work, better airflow means cooler
I used them with the Coolink Silenator, and found they work actually better than the 120mm Coolink fan that was included, except running at 500RPM, where there was only a 1degree difference at idle and 2 degrees at load

the 170RPM was audible over the rest of the system but not overly so, and the 1900RPM was to loud for my tastes... but of course both cooled very well

I'm not saying the new Noctua doesn't work well, but I'll be waiting for some independent reviews from historically reliable sources before buying any. Besides, I probably wouldn't buy them due to their expense and current "boutique brand" status which also artificially pumps the price.

Probably doing a self-import. When they start coming in quantity, they should run around $20., still high enough that I won't be buying any considering what Yate Loons can do for $5. or less, but not absurd. Those fans are still actually made in China so there is no way they are worth the current asking price. Obvious they are trying to make their nut as quickly as possible.

Ah, it's finally out... I seem to recall Noctua saying that a new fan/heatsink would come out at the same time when the NF-S12 was released.

I just got my NF-P12 today...

very nice, rather heavy actually and well built.. Can't wait to test it out..

I also had another surprise as well with it my site is listed on the packaging for the awards for the NF-S12 and the NF-R8.. very cool to see that recognition there...
