New nForce drivers

NVIDIA just released new nForce drivers for all OS's:

Nforce Drivers

Rear Stereo Support
Compatibility Fixes
International Language Support

Anyone care to try them out? I want to see if they give any performance boost but I am afraid to because my system is currently running rock stable (MSI nForce motherboard).

<< nice, now all I need is an nforce chipset >>

I had a MSI K7N420 for a few months, and it was a solid unit. Not a great o/c'er, but a nice piece none the less.

Does the new drivers add bass & treble controls in WinXp?

As far as I know, only Soundblaster cards have bass/treble controls. Whats so important about bass/treble controls anyway? Speakers have them, if you are playing music/MP3's, both Media player and Winamp have equalizer settings.

I tried these a few hours ago. So far, all these drivers have done is give me about 65 points more in 3DMark, that's it.

Prime95 results and a little SETI crunching show no differences in stability or anything else.

Everything is exactly the same as it was before for my system (MSI K7N420, 1.4GHz T-bird, WinXP Home + all updates available, GeF3, Barracuda IV).

Ive had the game theater XP, a santa cruz & an acoustic edge(I have an audigy now) & all have some sort of bass/treble or eq control. I only have the bass controls on my speakers(560zs) & I like to crank the treble. Media player & winamp wont let me have an adjustable treble for games-just for files played with those applications.

The Santa Cruz and the Hercules cards have equalizers, but I usually keep them in the flat setting (or disabled). I don't know about Philips cards since I haven't owned one. You're one of a very few who actually like to crank up the treble (since most crank up the bass🙂)
The problem maybe your speakers, the 560's have a full range driver doing the duties of both tweeter and mids. while the highs are decent, two way satellites are better. But hey, if you're a treble fan you should get one of these, so you can make your ears bleed 😉.

Oh, dont get me wrong-I like to crank the bass as well 😉 -Im the type who cranks both to the max-if I can, but I find the bass cranked on the 560s too much for my tastes. I am quite happy with the highs the 560s produce as well-in fact, I find them to sound better than the klipsch 4.1s I used to have as far as treble is concerned. I have heard those radioshack supertweeters & they do scream 🙂 I havent tried the nforce audio in Win98se/ME, but I heard at amdmb.com forums that the bass/treble controls is available if your using Win98se/me-just not winxp.
