New network problems

I have an old machine that has been running for several years. Has Win 98SE. Just built a new machine running Win XP Pro SP2. Both are hard wired into Linksys router. Cable modem is plugged into router. Both machines can get out to the internet. However, they cannot see each other. I checked, the workgroup is the same. The new machine was set for file and print sharing. The old machine was not. I changed it and rebooted. Now when I go into Network Neighborhood on the old machine it does that flashlight search routine indefinately. It never finds anything. What do I need to do to make this work?
