New net advertising technique: Desktop Popups - HOW DO YOU STOP THEM!?!?

Anyone else getting the new *obtrusive* internet ads that appear as a system message popup on your desktop (complete with the standard "OK" button at the bottom)?

They find their way through ZoneAlarm, popup killers, and all of the IE6 and Win2k updates (that I know of).

Has anyone figured out what it takes to stop these?

Go to Settings -> Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Services. Find the Messenger service and disable it.

Nah not really ;) I haven't encountered such pop-ups b4 though. Perhaps it's not here yet :)

As for the "My Rig" thingy, go here (it's actualy the My.Anandtech link from anandtech.com). Then login. Once you've done that, click on the "Edit my System Rigs profile" link. Fill in the blanks :)

Someone asked this question a few days ago in Call for Help ;)

BTW, how many of these pop-ups do you guys get anyway?
