Interesting. 🙂 Looking at the UT2003 benchmarks, they seem to corroborate Anand's preliminary UT2003 tests using a PCI video card. I wonder if KenAF will show up to eat his words now.

The Opteron was only 1.8ghz but it seems to be right up there with a 3.2ghz P4...

"Overall performance numbers show a clear and suspected trend. In benchmarks that are heavily dependant on memory bandwidth the Opteron makes great performance leaps over the Athlon even with a 400MHz clock advantage. In benchmarks that depend more on raw CPU clock it is disadvantaged to both the Athlon and Opteron. At 3.2GHz the P4 has an impressive 1GHz plus frequency gap, and excellent memory bandwidth which gives it the upper hand in many benchmarks."


So Intel will push Benchmarks that show off CPU clockspeed.

And AMD needs to get the clockspeed up on the Opteron/A64. Supposedly they have decent yields a 2.2 ghz now.
