My Fusion hybrid only has half of this...the two 4.2LCDs flanking an analog speedo...but this is just amazing to look at. When my wife is in the market for a new car next year I'm thinking I know what we'll be buying and it will definitely have this tech/user interface in it.

Couple highlights for those not wanting to read the press release...

It's basically 3 screens, two 4.2inch LCDs on either side of an analog speedometer, which is customizable to display your RPMs, fuel level, can do a system check, and can also show who you are on the phone with, what song is playing etc...

In the center stack is an 8inch LCD touch screen is concerned it controls you climate control, phone, entertainment, and navigation which are all color coded, but the color coding can be changed to your liking, it'll have the newest version of sync, allow iTunes tagging, pandora web music streaming, bluetooth media streaming etc.

The system can be upgraded via USB thumb drive or SD card, and users can even take their settings from one car with MyFord Touch to another with MyFord Touch.

It'll be on the new 2011 Ford Edge and Focus, and 2011 Lincoln MKX initially and rolled out to more cars over the next couple years. It'll be at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week so you'll be able to see it in person if you live in the vicinity. I know I'll be going...And hopefully they'll release an update to the GUI on my Fusion Hybrid's LCDs...

Very cool stuff. I love what Ford is doing with their engineering and their electronics...now if they could just work on their designs (or import more of their European designs).

Focus RS is pretty nice, they just choose not to sell it here because...oh shit I have no idea.

If the Focus RS was sold over here...I would have bought that in a heartbeat...well maybe not in the Neon Green color...but a nice blue or black.

Damn. Awesome tech. I think when Ford refreshes the Fusion I might have to get one.
I realize that is years away but unless I get in a wreck I won't be in the market for a new car for a while.

Looks like a bunch of useless garbage. Most of those features, possibly all of them, are already done by my cell phone. Calling people, gps, playing music through aux input, etc.

I'm going to go against the grain and say how much I hate these new systems. They're a pain in the ass to use while driving. There's something to be said for tactile feedback. Knowing that when you turn a knob left or right it's going to make it hotter or colder, louder or quieter. I like being able to make changes to the environment without having to navigate through a series of menus.

This x 1000. The temperature and fan speed in my corolla are controlled by buttons instead of dials and it's really starting to piss me off. You know how you can control which vents are blowing? Instead of a dial, I need to hit the Mode button until it selects the one I want. Adding more menus and other bullshit to this process would make it even worse.

You guys are growing old man. Once you have your settings, it will be second nature to you and you'll probably wonder how you ever did without them.

It still has dials/touch sensitive buttons below the touchscreen for heat/cool

Get off my lawn.

I test drove a BMW last summer and just found it a pain in the ass even when parked. When it's all voice command I'll buy it. Until then it's just technology for technology's sake, without any real benefit.

If it's voice activated, I don't want it. They never work. Ever.

You've obviously never used Sync...I can even use weird accents talk super fast or have the windows down on the highway and it knows what I want 99.99% of the time. It actually have a speech learning/voice recognition program so it knows your accent, inflection. Pretty nifty.

I was, before using Sync, like you very leery of any voice command thing, but once you use it and see that it gets things right and how simple it you'll never want to go back to a car without one.

I agree, I like the direction Ford is going.

Ford has been doing an amazing job lately with their tech. GM's Onstar program (which charges and isn't even free like Sync..though I guess Sync costs money to install so could just be seen as an upfront expenditure.) could take the hint and improve...right now the only reason I keep it is because they keep giving me stuff when I call to cancel...

You can text while driving? The way I see it is you'd have to look down on the screen to punch the letters in. Not very safe 😛
