New Mustang, a porker or not?

I keep hearing conflicting reports about the new mustang. One month its supposed to be 400lbs lighter.... then its a few hundred heavier, then just a tad underweight.... and now about the same weight.
People claim that Ford's F-150 aluminum tech will be applied here but I don't see it...
Ford is silent on the weight and I honestly don't have high hopes anymore.

In this modern day and age I can think of only a newer sports car weighing less and that is/was the 370Z since it used aluminum on the back panels and Porsches

I think the reports that it's gained 400# were from Steeda, who has since retracted their statement and said they didn't actually weigh the new model. Jalopnik reports it should be closer to 100 pounds of added weight, but there are new regulations about crush-proofing the roof, plus the IRS (!!!!) will add some poundage.

If it was going to be lighter Ford would have mentioned that, just like they did with the F150. It is going to be heavier. How much is anyone's guess.

It is hard to imagine that if the weight gain was minor that Ford would just sit on its hands and not say anything while all this is going on. Doing so would seem like a really bad way to handle negative press.

I've heard the new mustang has double the airbags too.

I know this is comparing two different cars but I've been interested in the WRX for a tad bit now and it didn't get a big weight increase on its models even though its in a new chassis and gets best in class crash testing scores. The weight doesn't really bother me, but if I came from say a miata/elise I'd be bitching

Looks bigger like the Challenger and Camaro. I know they need the safety eqip and such but wish it was more a bare bones performance car. But those do not sell well so I understand why.

The new Mustang is smaller I'm pretty sure

The new Mustang is nearly the same length as the previous model with +3 inches in rear track width. Barely smaller than the Camaro, and still smaller than the Challenger (which is based on the 4-door Charger platform).

Final weight should be close to the previous model, but likely higher due to more rear suspension components.

The 6.2L SC engine should finally get the Challenger to move, at least.

The silence is very much like the launch of the C7. Lot of speculation of a lighter car, but it was all wishes and turned out to be heavier in the end. All the carbon fiber couldn't make up for all the added complexity.
