Pretty cool bass driven jam track I made tonight. It's not perfect, but I captured a pretty good groove i think. i do lots of cool fills with my bass.. (pats self on back). I recorded everything myself, used EzDrummer for the drummers, and midi for the synth.

Can you all critique the mixing job? like eq of everything, levels, etc.. I just spent like an hour tweaking it, but im tired, so are my ears, and I've only heard it in my headphones.

Edit: I posted this a few days ago. I just remixed it. Sounds so much better. Can you download it and tell me what you think about the mix? It's a pretty decent groove. I have some cool guitar playing at the end.

Here is another one i just messed with tonight. it's mostly like heavy metal, lots of double bass. i tried to make a crazy part. its meh. but it was fun.

I didn't spend much time balancing the mix.

no need to justify anything to music snobs, holmes

your practice sounds good

keep workin on those chops 🙂

Tell me more about the synth(s) you're using. Do you play the parts on a midi keyboard? I've set up a little recording workstation, but the synth stuff is frustrating me. I'm not a keyboard player so I sorta draw stuff out in a sequencer, even though I have a keyboard for formulating ideas. It comes out sounding really plain though.

What environment(s) do you use to put it all together?

yea, I'm using an maudio axiom 25, and mixing in "Mixcraft". I can control the synth from within mixcraft. I don't know what particular synth i used.. i was just messing with stuff last night.
