I'm listening to the new Mushroomhead disc, 'XIII'
It's not bad, but I'm really missing the old sound :(

this is very pop accessible, yet on the heavy side.... less eclectic than in the past
edit:
I have this strange feeling no one has a clue about what I'm talking....

I bought XxX after seeing them at Ozzfest. The cd was just okay in my opinion. I wish all the tracks sounded more like Solitaire Unraveling and Never Let Go. Otherwise, it gets too slow and not heavy enough for me. Their new stuff is a different combination and you're right, it's definitely not as heavy.

I'd like to see what they do for their 3rd album. I really like their 2 singers, they just need to get heavier

p.s. the solitaire unraveling video has to be one of the coolest videos ever

Actually, XIII is their sixth album.
ST
Superbuick
Remix
M3
XX
XIII

The first four are excellent ;)
I've never seen the video, but the song live is great

edit:
I dunno off hand if 'these filthy hands' was on XX, but that's a really great song like never let it go with some brutal vocals

Wow, I was way off on album count. I dunno why I thought they had 3, if anything it should be at least 4 or 5. I forgot they've been around for like 10 years or so

Oddly enough, I found 'These filthy hands' to be one of my least favorite songs since it's so slow and placed between my two favorite songs on the album. Piano/keyboard just doesn't do it for me when it's coupled with guitars for a lead. The vocals are more harmonic than metal screaming that you can find on Never Let Go and Solitaire. Before I Die is pretty fast and heavy too.

The song live was awesome. I have a vid of it live too but it just doesn't do justice, they never do though.

well, yeah, the vocals are harmonic as well as harsh.
That was another thing about the mrh of yore, harsher vocal contrast.

ahh, those were the days...
