1. This is the AWARD(r) BIOS version 2.2 release.
2. This BIOS fixes the following problems of the previous version:
-Patch some mother board hard disk access error when use 686B.
3. 2001/01/11

On my way to get it now!

Thanks.

Note: This BIOS is intended for Power User & Overclockers. User can try it at their own risk.

Don't you just love MSI?

MSI is cool 🙂 I am still running the 1.0B14 special BIOS.

Anyone tried the new one yet and ran some memory benchmarks?

John I was running the 10b14 BIOS but the HDD performance is hideous... although my Memory scores rocked by some +40/50 and got over 7000 in 3dmark for the first time. I want a newer OC BIOS with better HDD performance... then it would surely rock. Going to get the 2.2 now... post scores in a few (over the 2.1 BIOS).

How do you like it? I was thinking of using it but I figure I didn't need the extra voltage settings. But is there more setting then just added voltage?

I just flashed 2.2, everything is running great. My PC Alert Vcore voltage is reading a little more accurate with 2.2.

Okay no difference in my memory scores (433/480). I did get 470/530 with the 10b14 BIOS though but my HDD perforance went from 17000 to 9000 in Sandra and HDtach scores went from 22000kpbs(2.0) avg to 13000kpbs(10b14) avg. Burst went from 53mbps to 9mbps. And access was slightly better in 10b14 ... 11ms vs 13ms(2.0)

NOX the 10b14BIOS forces 4-way interleave thus better memory scores plus the wider VCORE selection.

Ok cool, maybe I?ll wait for the next version.

v2.1 & v2.2 have 4-way interleaving built in too...

I've used v2.1, v2.2 and the overclockers 1.0B14. I benched ever so slightly higher on 1.0B14, around 500/575 memory with Mushkin REV2 stuck at 333 w/ 4way interleaving. I just ordered a stick Crucial 256MB PC133 222, so I'll compare once I get it. But all were stable, no problems with any, I went to 2.2 for the IDE fix just to be safe.

I did it the old fashioned way. Copy command.com to a floppy and unzip the BIOS to the floppy as well. Reboot the PC w/ the floppy inserted and it will do everything automatically.

My memory scores went down ~40 points, HD scores are roughly the same.

ah. Well, I'm selling the mobo anyway, so I'll just stick with my current version rather than risk frying it. 🙂

how do you get to msdos prompt on win2k? i went to...start>run>command, but when i typed "format a:/s" it didn't work...says... invalid parameter - /s.

when i extracted the files to the disk to try booting up w/ it...it didn't work. anyone have a solution?

Heehee guess I'll keep using the 1.0B14...no problems with hdd especially when using SCSI instead of the VIA IDE controllers 🙂

I would like the placebo-effect of feeling more stable running a higher version BIOS though...

This BIOS is supposed to fix the crashing problem I'm experiencing. We'll see if that helps.

EDIT: Never mind, the new BIOS appears to support 4-way memory interleaving. I just wasn't happy with my results. MSI really needs to improve this motherboard's performance. I can't seem to break 500MB/sec in Sandra2001 despite using a 1.1GHz Tbird with PC133 memory.

Shu8,

Down load this program. It will create a bootable floppy for Win2k, it's what I use. Then extract the Bios file on to another floppy. Restart your computer with the bootable floppy still in the drive, then update your bios.

You should only have to type ?autoexec? and it will install new bios for you.

You can get this program from BootDisk.com.

Dont use LiveBIOS, we already have two people here messed up their BIOS chip by flashing 2.1 with LiveBIOS, not recommended.
