I heard rumors that Blue Ray and HD-DVD will be pushed out by a better movie format? Is this true or just rumors?

I'm not trying to get people excited or anything, just clarifying.

Who told you that? Your friend's uncle's son's wife's college roommate?

I think most people acknowledge that neither Blu-Ray or HD-DVD are going to be "the" next format to replace DVD. There are newer technologies already moving towards production, the main one being a Holographic disc technology developed by Toshiba called HVD that can hold around 1 Terrabyte of data, and are relatively cheap to manufacture. That's likely to be the next "it" format

Actually my sister and I was talking within the next year or two? I also heard that neither HD-DVD or Blue Ray will win the format war; both formats will be readily available. Is this wrong?

Will Bul-Ray/HD-DVD be overthrown within the next year or two? No way. 10 years from now? Almost certainly. EVERY current state-of-the-art technology is going to be supplanted by something better.

You have to be on top to get overthrown. Neither of them are, or ever will be.
