Well, the wait is almost over. On 9/4/14 we'll see the Moto 360 and the update to the Moto X. Who's looking forward to this event?

MOTOROLA!!

Excited, I want a Moto 360.
I do as well. Additionally, my wife is really tempted to abscond with my OPO. If she does she'll buy me another phone of my choice. As of right now that choice is the HTC One M8, but if the Moto X+1 is as impressive as the Moto X was I could go that direction instead.

I am doubly excited for this event. :)

I've settled on the OPO so I don't really care for the X1, but the Moto X was indeed a great phone. Active Display was incredibly useful, really cut down on the number of times I would turn on my phone for a few seconds just to check notifications or the time and whatnot.

I wish the OPO was AMOLED.

Agreed on all points, but I have to say my wife likes the OPO more than I do. Gotta keep the wife happy if you want to be happy, right? ;)

Setup your notification LEDs properly ;) I know its not exactly the same, but most of the time I know what's pending on my phone so there's no need to look as a result. There's also Acdisplay. I do wonder how much battery is used if the screen flashes on for every notification. Shouldn't be too bad for 5 seconds or so if the iPhone does it.

I'd like to upgrade my wife's gimped phone to a Moto G2, any rumors on what we can expect?

Specifically screen size, microSD, possible 32GB option? Am I dreaming? What does AT think?

I agree on the pricing, low low cost was one of the biggest features of the original Moto G.

Thanks for the link, not too crazy about the price increase.

I guess we'll be waiting until BF/Cyber Monday, hopefully we'll see the current Moto G on sale.

Well they directly translated the EU price to dollars. And that is never accurate. The Euro-folks always get gouged with much higher prices than we pay in the US. So just because it's 250 Euros doesn't mean it'll be $325. I expect it'll be cheaper here.

Wouldn't that push the G2 (I take it they're trolling LG?) to ~$270-275? The G was $135 (wasn't it?), and the 4G version was $220.

For those specs I'm not impressed, especially if they leave out the SD slot and gimp the storage again, and them resolving those issues aren't worth twice the price. A move to 8MP/2MP cameras and a newer SoC (which near as I can tell is just going from dual core to quad core of the same CPU with maybe a better GPU) doesn't warrant the price increase to me. My guess is the Moto phones, especially the G were sold at no margin or loss so Google could put pressure on other OEMs, and Lenovo has no interest in that, but I think that could ruin the success they saw.

The problem is, the Moto phones appeal was all about the price. All the other stuff that Moto did I don't think mattered on their success as much, it was the price that made them successful. Of course if the phones had been crap they wouldn't have been that successful at their prices either, but if they jack the prices up while keeping the middling specs I don't see them being as successful.

Those specs to me $150-200 should be tops depending on storage and 4G/LTE capabilities.

Due to general progress of the industry, for near $300 they should be offering something closer to the Moto X.

WTF, looking on Amazon, the G is $180 for the GSM/international for 16GB, and the X is $399? No wonder they think this should be $270 since it splits the two spec wise (a bit closer to the G than the X). Of course the Verizon 8GB is $80 or so.

I really hope Nokia pushes things in the $200 and below market. I don't see why someone can't offer a decent 5" 720p, with A15 or newer (isn't the A53 ready?) based SoC, LTE, and SD slot for that price.

After doing some digging. It appears the 3G Moto G launched last year with a price of 200 Euros in Europe (about $270). In the US however it's $180, so the Euros had to pay about $90 more.

So if the 250 Euro price holds true, then it's still a price increase. But not as much as I think people are fearing. Maybe $230?

That would be better, although a price increase for what amounts to the normal progress of specs is disappointing. To me, they should be selling a 16GB equivalent for the price the 8GB went for. Unless they make the 4G the standard, then it would be a bit more expensive than it was.

That's part of the problem I think, I'm focused on the cheap 8GB version (which I'd guess if the one that sold the most). Hmm, maybe I'm way off and only the Verizon version was ever that cheap. I thought the ATT one was $135 for 8GB, and the Verizon one was $99.

But that article says it was twice the price of the original 3G one and 25% more than the 4G one.

The Moto 360 for sure, and maybe the new Moto X if I think it's better than an HTC One M8. I am VERY excited about the Moto 360 for sure. :)

I am definitely interested to see what Moto has in store for their next flagship (X+1, X2, X^2, whatever), but I am in no rush to replace my Moto X. The current hardware generation, and the rumored specs of the Moto X successor, leave me impressed... but I am extremely curious to find out more about the Nexus 6 or whatever the rumored Moto Nexus turns out to be named. I saw recently they are claiming 5.2", which bucks the trend a little regarding the naming and display size convention, but that also makes me that much more interested. I think I could accept an awesome 5.2" phone - but I think I would be put off by anything close to 6". I don't want a phablet, I want a comfortable phone, ideally one I can one-hand.

More than anything, I just want that Moto 360. I need to see it first in real life, but I am quite confident I will readily want to wear it as my go-to watch. I've been watch-less for some time, having not replaced the battery on my old watch or fixed up a handed-down Seiko (quartz movement - needs links removed and new battery). I could see replacing a typical watch with a Moto 360 if it truly feels right. It looks right, but like any watch, I needs to have time-on-wrist to judge accurately.

I'd also like to see the Moto 360 in person after it's released.

Other than buying one, any ideas on how/where to find one locally?
