I need some help, maybe someone can guide me.
I have an Intel p4 2.4Mhz pc.
Motherboard- MSI 655Max-FISR http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=655_Max-FISR&class=mb
My pc has been locking up when I play swat4. Also now when I drag videos over to the media player- it just shuts off and restarts.
I was thinking it was the video card because of the swat 4 issue- so I got a cheap Nvidia 6600 turbo-didn't help. I was running a ATI 9700. The ATI 9700 I even bought a heat sink bigger fan and that didn't help- it still locked up. So I thought it was the memory, so I got some cheap Corsair 1 gig Extra Value memory. That didn't help either. Although now I think the moving the videos into the media player crashing might be due to the cheap memory? I know I can't overclock the memory but I can on my 512 corsair because it was a better kind. What do you think?
So now I'm thinking the game locking up is the motherboard or something else. I aired it all out and cleaned all the memory slots to no avail. I have plenty of cooling fans, I also tried to stick a regular desk fan to cool the motherboard and I still have the same issues. Could anyone offer some suggestions?
If I need a new setup then that's cool, I just want a gaming rig that works. I've been out of the loop for awhile on the setups that are good.
thx
John
