New Motherboard - Please Help!

I installed a new Motherboard - XFX Mach 4 (P4XE-MVB) along with a Celeron 2.0 ghz and 2 sticks of PNY 256 DDR PC-2100 memory to replace my 3 year old E-Machines board.

I cannot get Windows to fully load - It craps out after seeing the Win ME flash on screen and the screen goes blank and I have to reboot! The Bios has detected the Hard Drive, memory and all periferals installed. I tried also just installing without the CD and DVD Burner but with the same problem.

Can anyone advise me what the problem may be?

Thanks,

Bob

Windows still knows the drivers of the old motherboard, and does not like the new Mobo.

Before you reinstall ME (ick), go into safe mode, remove all the old motherboard drivers, reboot, and install the new drivers..

That may work. Otherwise a clean install will definitely solve the problem. Try method 1 first though.

When the PC goes into safe mode it runs scan disk then halfway through the screen goes blank and I have to reboot. (I am unable to get to desktop)

Do you think my existing power supply which came with old E-machines is causing this problem? Its only a 120Watt!

Thanks,

Bob

Hi,

I spoke with Tech Support and they suggested change tie 1st boot to CD-Rom with Windows ME to reinstall Windoes. Hopefully this may work!
