I have an asus a8n32-sli deluxe, for s939. I just got my second RMA yesterday (had one a year ago). This one appears to be either brand new, or refurbished to the level of brand new.
The heatpipe was much tighter and evenly pressured on the nb and sb. I can see obviously why the nb and sb temps are lower than before- but what explains the processor?
I used to idle @ 42, and load at 55. I have the same processor and heatsink (3800+x2 lapped, and a64 freezer pro lapped with as5).
Currently, I idle at 30, and load at 40 (same 2600/2080/1040 speeds through crystal cpuid). The voltage levels are also less necessary. For the same 2600/2080/1040 speeds, the required voltages for the levels are 1.325/1.100/1.000 (the board auto adds about .03-.04V). I can go much lower on the 1040 speed, I'm sure, but it is the lowest my board will go. The load temp I gave was for 2600mhz, the idle for the 1040mhz. I can also post and load xp @ 2.7 and 2.8ghz (stability hasn't been reached yet). So what would cause this change? I spent the least time I ever have on applying the paste too. Would it be from the cleaning and reseating, simply the new board, better voltage regulators? Or something else?
