New Motherboard Ideas

Haven't see this topic posted for quite some time so...

I have my crack rack at home ready swap out the old hardware with new. The dual celery's that I have now just aren't getting the results they should be when you compare them to the power they consume.

My question is: Are the Duo's taking the hold of dual processor boards? I've seen the Celeron D's, but I haven't personally seen them run a DNet client. Anyone have any information they would like to share if your running on one? Doesn't really matter if the board comes with embedded video or NIC because I have enough supples to cover anything that doesn't. (Thanks Rich!)

I don't do dnet, but from my limited experience, if you're buying new today, single socket dual core easily beats dual socket single core ("true" SMP for the "purists") in performance per unit of money. For a crack rack, a number of Core 2 Duo systems would be fantastic. Sorry I can't advise on motherboards, as my only "dually" is a lone Athlon 64 X2 (I'm waiting for Kentsfield, the quad core varient based on Core 2 Duo).

An AsRock Dual-vsta that is backward compatible at $60ish for all your core 2 needs. Asrock makes even a cheaper model that only takes agp & ddr. Recycle your ram, ps, vc & pop in a e6300 for $180.
