Hey I know there is already a lot of threads about that but a new one isnt too bad espically if the needs are different

I need the best chepeast board for a core 2 duo that's all :p

I heard there's a lot of probleme with P965 so waiting for 650i ultra motherboards could be a solution?

I DO NOT need any overclocking board
Either I don't need SLI

I just need something stable and relatively cheap :p

Thanks you !

pretty much all the problems with 965 are resolved - most related to the JMicron controller & also to using memory that needed more than the JEDEC 1.8V.
Running both 965 & 650i SLI imo 965 is the better chipset.

if you want something cheap to run stock you can get a 945.

I bought the Intel DP965LT when it first came out. Since I am not overclocking I am running PC2-4200 RAM. It is 1.8V and I have never had any issues with the 965 chipset.

Heidfirst you're running 650i OR 650i ultra ?

What's the big difference between P965 and p945?

Also if you could suggest to me 2 or 3 motherboards availabe there : ncix.com It would be much appreciated :p

When you say the 965 problems were resolved, in what way? New motherboard revisions?

I just had my second Asus P5B-Deluxe stop working, and am unsure of what to get next.

My Asus P5B-E (P965) has been going strong since November. That's with an e6300 overclocked to 3GHz.

sorry, been away & internetless for a few days.

Dwarefy, 650i SLI.
I have an AB9 QuadGT & a P5N-E SLI - unless you need SLI/2 PATA channels I have no doubt which board that I prefer.

Be careful with some of the 945 based boards. There are several that do not support 1066 FSB. I currently am using an ECS 945GZT-M with my E4400, and it does not support a 1066 MHz bus. It handles my E4400 perfectly well, since it runs at a 800 Mhz FSB. In fact, it would be a pretty nice motherboard for an E4XXX cpu, expcet the Intel-based SATA controller has issues with my main SATA drive. All of my AMD systems have no trouble at all with the same drive, but I've had trouble with on on 2 separate Core 2 Duo motherboards. Some 945 boards only support the 1066 by "overclocking", such as this one:

In all honesty, if you want a cheap system, then AMD motherboards are better. I have recently built a few Core 2 Duo systems, and am shocked about how many problems I've come across. So far, not a single system has gone together smoothly with an inexpensive motherboard. So I've come to the conclusion that you need to spend around a $100 to get one that works well, such as these:

Get a 650i...can't huirt switching completely over to something different. Plus you get 1T memory performance.

Did you see I'm always talking about 650i ultra because you did send me a lot of helps but about 650i which is a Sli motherboard.

NCIX just received EVGA 650i ultra T1, A1 is the better one though

Thanks you all :p
