Dear all,

I've bought a new Z87 motherboard to support Haswell. My monitor cable lead has a DVI connector. The motherboard though doesn't have a DVI input. What are the best options?

a) Display Port on motherboard -> DVI?
b) HDMI on motherboard -> DVI?
c) Internal PCI-E card which has DVI input?

My problem is that I do not want to install my old HD 4870 on the new system. All opinions are appreciated.

Thank you.

I had to use a DVI to HDMI on my last monitor because the screen didn't have a DVI connection. No issues at all. I see no reason the reverse wouldn't work in your case.

If your monitor DVI cable can be removed, you can replace it with a cable that has DVI on one end and HDMI on the other. Keep in mind that DVI does not support audio, so you will need a separate audio cable.

Otherwise, a HDMI to DVI adapter at the mobo end should work.

Thank you guys. I decided to connect an HDMI cable from my motherboard to the HDMI in port of the monitor. But now I dont have any options on how to connect my PC with my TV to watch movies there because my TV has only HDMI in connections. Any suggestions there?
