New Motherboard and Windows 8

Have Windows 8 on this rig. I am going to be building a new rig and re-using my hard drives. My OS in on an SSD. My data and some software is on a sata hdd.

I'd rather nor do a fresh install if I don't have to. If it was just windows, no biggie. But I have other programs I don't want to re-install if I don't have to.
Can it be done?

Old rig:
775 mobo/dual core cpu

New rig:
1155 mobo/quad core cpu

Yes, it can be done. The "proper" way to do it would be to run sysprep, pull the hard drives, and move them over to the new computer. However with Intel -> Intel there's a good chance that it will handle the transition just fine if you move the hard drives as-is.

Did this exact same thing the other week. Since all my data was on the spinning drive, I decided I'd just try swapping out the 775 for the 1155. I know, laziness on my part, but I figured reinstalling 8 on the SSD wouldn't take long anyways if it went bad. Went smooth as melted butter. Calling MS to re-activate win8 and installing the USB 3.0 drivers were the only things I had to do.

Thanks.
I am thinking of uninstalling the mobo drivers in Device Manager then making the swap.

Welp, didn't work out as well for me. Didn't have to do a full re-install but most of my programs are gone.
