Which size should I get and which resolution ?

Not really gaming that much and when I do I play older games from 2009 to 2013.

My current GPU if it matters is a GTX 1070

Currently have a 24" monitor.

Budget $700

I would jump to a 4K personally as I like the real estate when I'm not gaming. 2013 and older games should run fine on a 1070 at that resolution.

If you want higher HZ then possibly that's not the best route. I like the real estate myself though... I have a 32" 4K arriving tomorrow.

I ordered this one while it was $30 off:

https://www.costco.com/LG-32UD59-B-...IrBeqQMkbs1Eole0mQDlSvqOhBwRWNhKkXfQ45g01/sg=

It's been cheaper after rebate at Newegg, but I know if I don't like it, it's very easy to take back at Costco.

So, this one is an LG which I wouldn't necessarily say you need to get an LG, what I typically care more about is the panel type. The LG I would have "invested" in was the 32UD99 which is IPS & HDR, but the reviews on the HDR have been hit or miss, so I bought this VA panel to hold me over.

I currently have a 40" 4K VA panel... VA is at least better than TN in my opinion although I've seen some very good TN panels. The 40" is just too big for me, so after 2 years I've finally decided to go smaller. Here is what I typically look for in a monitor:

Must haves (if I want to keep the monitor very long term):

~4k resolution
IPS
300+ nits brightness... ideally 350 and if HDR, peak should be 800-1000 or higher (this doesn't exist in monitor form AFIK)
At least 100 DPI, ideally 110 or more probably (this will be determined by monitor size & resolution)
Adaptive Sync
Reasonably good color reproduction, but does not need to be photo accurate

Nice to haves:
Over 60hz refresh
VESA mounting
HDR

So yeah typically I don't focus on the brand so much as the specs... the specs will typically drive your price tag up regardless of brand, although if you can find 2 companies with the same specs, likely they have the same panel... so you can google a little to confirm and then decide which you like for aesthetics, warranty or etc.

I don't understand why you said you would have trouble returning it to Newegg if you didn't like it? It comes with a Standard Return Policy.

How much was it can't see the price unless I sign in? Thanks.

Oh it was $439 after $30 off.

Yeah but I know Costco is pretty lenient and I don't have to call and set up an RMA and etc, I just drop it off. Plus it's a local business to me so I tend to support those when I can. Also the Newegg deal was after rebate so a little extra leg work involved to get that lower price... but I could see going either way :)

How is the screen coating on that panel? I bought the AOC U3277PWQU but returned it because of the graininess of the AG coating over a VA panel. The coating combined with the VA pixel layout would shift colors and produce some low IQ.

Is the coating light on the LG?

That budget gives you a lot of options. Don't agree about 4k on a GTX 1070.
When my new display arrives tomorrow I'll be able to test out if my GTX 1060 can truly handle 1080p at 144hz.
I suspect I'll be turning down settings to achieve smooth frames.

Alright just set this thing up... yeah I notice the AG coating but honestly I've seen a lot worse. So far this looks like a keeper to me, the black frame is way more attractive than the AOC shiny stuff. So glad I decided to save some coin for now!!
