New monitor

Got a good deal on the LG 29UM67 Ultra Wide monitor. Mounted to my monitor arm last night. Fired up Skyrim and the game crashes. I realize that older games may not support the ultra wide resolution. What is the trick to being able to play the game on my new monitor?

One cable is a DVI connected to my KVM switch. KVM won't do the new monitor's resolution so using HDMI that supports it. I have a DisplayPort cable, but no need to use it yet.

Back to the OP, I'm just not familiar with Ultra Wide monitors and how to get them compatible with older games that don't support their resolution. Need some advice from those who have made the transition.

I just recently bought this monitor aswell. I will try to run skyrim if I still have it. I didn't have any problems sofar. Thou, I played only the latest games.

Try Displayport and check your GPU driver settings. Disable VSR or whatever downscaling method nv has.

Skyrim supports 21:9, 2560x1080 natively. Skyrim works fine on my Samsung. Could be something to do with the KVM, hard to say. HDMI 1.4 supports 2560x1080 @ 60Hz just fine so that shouldn't be an issue. Try plugging directly into the panel using HDMI/Displayport and see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks guys. I have the monitor hooked up directly to my GTX 970 via HDMI. I will try again after work tonight.
