Be prepared to read, the thread is 101 pages long and has feedback from the start of this year. You are going to drop a large amount of cash if you do decide to purchase so this might be worth the read for you.
Here's a link with a poll of dead pixel to give you an idea of your changes of getting no dead pixels:
2001fp dead pixel poll
I have a vs P95F at 1024x768 if you use this resolution also, i would suggest a 19" lcd with a native 1280x1024. I tried a 2001fp, it had no dead pixel but it was difficult to view at times cause i experienced the grainy/screen door effect mentioned in the 1st link. The grainy effect made it difficult for me to view the monitor at 1600x1200. Take into consideration each person's vision but if you feel 1024x768 is the best view for you with your current 19" i would suggest the vs 912b lcd over the 2001fp. You can increase th dpi of the text in windows to large but it still didn't look as good when i tried this with the 2001fp.
The nec fp2141sb you chose is also good, but one thing i hate about crt is the issue of geometry, clearness of text at edges, and convergence and since crt weight alot, rma cost to ship it back is cruel if you are not pleased with the results.
I went for the fp2141sb path after the dell2001fp but I feel like I should have gone with the vs 912b then the fb2141sb. The fp2141sb i got was defective so it's getting replaced. This is your chance to try a lcd if you never owned one before, if you don't like the vs 912b, you can give it to your wife or return it and try the nec fp2141sb instead or keep your p95f+.
