Hello,
I've recently obtained a new viewsonic 19" g90fb monitor for christmas. When i run it at 1024/768 the picture is fine, but much too large, i would like to use a higher resolution. However, when i change it to 1280 or 1600 the picture becomes shakey and there is refreshing, like the refresh rate was at 50hz or something to that effect. I've tried setting the refresh rate to 75, 77, 85, etc, but the picture is just as bad. There is no evidence of anything wrong when i run it at the lower resolutions. My system is

1gig corsiar value ram
gf6600GT
Thermaltake 420W PS
p4 2.66GHZ
200 gig HD
1 optical drive

I really hope I don't have a bum monitor and look forward to any tips or advice i might recieve. I'm curently using the latest non-beta drivers from nvidia, and run in a 2 monitor setup, the picture looks fine on my other monitor.

Three possibilities:

1) The monitor might be flakey. You might want to try the monitor on a different computer (preferably with a different vid card and cable) and see if it exhibits the same behavior. If it does, something might be wrong with the monitor.

2) The cable might be the culprit. If the monitor has 5BNC inputs, you might want to use a 5BNC cable instead. Those are superior to 15-pin VGA D-type cables.

3) The vid card might be the culprit. Again, try the monitor on a different computer with a different vid card and see if it improves.

Good luck.
