New monitor weirding out

Hi all,

I just recently purchased a 19" NEC Diamondtron monitor. Over the last couple of days there have been a few instances of the picture shaking for about 10 seconds before going back to normal. Now, the picture just expanded and became very very fuzzy, and it won't go back to normal.

I don't know much about diagnosing (spelling?) monitor problems and was looking for some help here.

First of all, although I'm pretty sure since you're a lifer, did you get all drivers for the video card AND the monitor? Assuming it's CRT, check the pins. The fuzziness almost sounds like it needs Degaussing, but I haven't heard that being an issue on a new monitor in a LONG time... Other than that, the shaky picture could be a number of things. Try the other stuff and see what happens.

Yes, I installed all drivers. And I tried degaussing as well. Also tried changing the resolution and refresh rate just to see if it would do anything.

The weird thing is, the monitor is back to normal now. I pulled the power on it and let it sit for about 10 minutes. I had turned it off for about 10 seconds before to no effect, but this extended power down seems to have fixed it for now. I don't know what went wrong in the first place though, or how to prevent it in the future.
