So, I'm in the process of making a decision on replacing my monitors. I currently have 3 Dell Ultrasharp monitors (U2410 flanked by U2412s) on an Ergotech stand. I've ordered the telescoping wings to expand the stand to accommodate three 27" monitors. I thought that what I will probably do is initially order a new center monitor and then add the wing monitors a little later. My system is used mostly for work but for quite a bit of gaming too, so I'd like a monitor with high refresh rate but good display quality as well.
Here is what I would like to see:
1. 27" and VESA mount compatible are firm requirements at this time.
2. High refresh rate - 144 Hz minimum. Gsync is preferable.
3. 2560 x 1440 resolution minimum.
4. DisplayPort is a must (I'm sure that goes without saying, but I don't want to have to use HDMI for high refresh rates as some monitors apparently require).
5. No more than $700 per monitor, which rules the new 4K high refresh rate monitors out. If people seriously think we'll see the 4K high refresh rate monitors at the $700-$800 price tag in a year, I might rethink my stance of replacing all three monitors and just wait a little longer to replace all of them, but I think I still want to replace at least my center monitor at this time and then I can move it down to another system later.
6. Panel: I have always purchased IPS panels. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I'd like to stick with IPS if possible.
7. Must be able to be purchased on Amazon, preferably with Prime for easy returns and to increase my credit card rewards. Yes, I know Newegg would likely be cheaper, but I'm not messing with their return policy in the event I don't like the monitor.
I know both Asus and Acer have monitors that meet these requirements, but I have a hard time trusting Acer for my main monitor. Am I wrong here? Gigabyte has a monitor that checks all the boxes except, I believe, VESA mounting, so that rules them out and even if that's not the case, can I trust a Gigabyte monitor? I know Dell has some monitors which meet my specs except one point - I think their 27" gaming monitor is TN and I'd prefer to avoid TN. Does Dell have a 27" IPS monitor with 144 Hz refresh and 1440p resolution that I've missed?
Thoughts? I don't know much about LG monitors so maybe they have something too.
