I just purchased a new Daowoo 17" flat screen monitor. After about three hours of use, I heard a loud snap from within the monitor, and the screen shrunk and blurred at the same time. Within several seconds however, everything was alright again. Should this be something to be concerned with?

Thanks.

All CRT's (picture tubes) leak to some extent allowing air molecules to venture inside. When the contamination becomes great enough high voltage will arc over between the elements inside giving the arc or snapping sound. This arc captures the errant air molecules and temporarily clears the problem. This event is most likely to occurr after the tube has sat dormant for a while. Consider it normal operation.

It could be defective. One of the Mags my father bought (when BB had them for $150) did that every few minutes. He took that one back. The others did not do it.

Last time I checked, you had to degauss your monitor yourself. I would be a little annoyed if it randomly degaussed when it felt like it. I'd get a hold of daewoo tech support just in case.
