New monitor question...in the market

My 19" monitor died and I need to buy a new one.

I want to go a little bigger, so was looking at 21.5".

few questions.
Big difference to have Backlight LED? Worth getting?

This monitor will be used primarily for gaming and web surfing stuff. Potentially watching some movies.

Just looking for some recommendations. Would prefer to pay under $200.
One Brand better than another?

The Asus monitors are all pretty good. LED is just a different backlighting, and sometimes they go cheap and do edge-lit, so it can cause uniformity issues.. not worth the premium as far as Im concerned, especially at the low end.

I know Acer gets a lot of hate, but this particular model is a really highly rated TN panel.

For that Price range you can get Bigger size and Lower GTG in a TN Panel. However, at that size you can also get IPS panels in that Price range.

Personally I'd only settle on an IPS panel at that size, but I'd go for a 24" TN LED Backlit 2ms GTG for Gaming.
