New Monitor has GREEN display.

I just bought a new Princeton YF912 19" monitor from Costco, plugged it in, fired up the machine and the screen is Green. The display information in advanced properties under Display shows the monitor type in use as a YPbPr, not a normal monitor and I can't get it to switch.

I am using Win98se, Ati 8500, and the Cat. 2.5 drivers. I have a second machine here at home and it works fine on it. That machine is using Win98 1st, Ati 7500 and the Cat.2.3 drivers. I have removed the Ati drivers, cleaned out the registry of all Ati driver info and even deleted the monitors from safe mode, and the registry, but somehow this monitor allways comes back as a YPbPr display type.

The monitor I currently have and was going to replace is a Sylvania F74, and when I re-plug it in all is good. The new monitor works fine in Safe Mode, ie. the colors are normal. If I use the computer before I re-install the Cat. 2.5's, the display is normal, so I suspect somewhere in the registry I have not gotten all the old monitor info out.

Try removing all the display drivers by deleting them in the control panel. Do not attempt to install any drivers. Reboot and let windows discover new hardware and then install the drivers when prompted to do so. If you have a registry problem then use the built in windows utility .

Thanks, I did try that, and everything is fine. But as soon as I load the Ati Cat. 2.5 drivers and re-boot, the display then is green.

Well, I put my old Radeon 1 DDR in and it works fine. I think my problems might be due to the fact that I flashed my 8500 bios to a different one, the 7005 bios, so I think i'll try another one. My card is a retail one so I think I might just identify which bios chip I do have and flash it with the bios meant for it.
