I currently have a 19" CRT I run at 1600x1200 (I like screen real estate).
I also have a 15" CRT is sometimes use as a second monitor.

I am thinking of one of two options to replace the 15" CRT, a 19" LCD or a 17" LCD. Obviously the 17" is a fair bit cheaper, and with the money I save, I would probably buy a TV tuner as well (which would give me more use of it).

I will probably eventually upgrade the 19" CRT to an LCD as well, so I have a dual LCD system, but which would be better, dual 17" or dual 19", since they both have the same resolution?
I'm used to things being pretty small, running 1600x1200 on a 19" CRT, so I don't think 1280x1024 on a 17" would be a problem, if anything, a 19" might be too big.
It would mostly be for watching TV shows/DVD's and playing games.

19" LCD 16ms response.
And a 17" at £140 or so, probably with 12ms response and 450/500:1 as well.

I'm just not sure what to go for. Saving money would be nice, and a 19" won't really give any extra usable space (since it's the same resolution).

A 17" LCD has the same viewable screen as a 19" CRT. A 19" LCD has roughly the same viewable screen as a 21" CRT.

A 17" LCD and a 19" LCD both have the same maximum resolution, so you're really only paying extra for larger looking things.

Exactly, the 17's are a much better choice considering the price difference between 19.
I have 17" LCD's at work that look like 19" CRT's. 17's are the LCD sweet spot.
