New mobo won't start...help please

Greetings. I just bought a new motherboard from Fry's. It was a pretty inexpensive ECS P4M800PRO-M v2. It came with a Intel Pentium D processor. I figured for the price, this wouldn't be a bad upgrade since the mobo would allow me to use my PC3200 memory.

Anyway, I installed the motherboard, processor and cooling fan in my existing case, connected all of the cables to my optical drives, hdd, etc, but I cannot get the bios to come up. No beeps, but the power supply fan and heatsink fan turn on. No response from my monitor and the HDD does not turn on. I tried unplugging everything but the keyboard and monitor since I thought maybe my power supply was too weak. Don't laugh...it's a really old psu only 200w. Still no luck. The only thing I can think of is that the connector for the case power switch/led's doesn't match up with the connectors on the mobo (according to the manual). The plastic harness on the end of my case wires seems to have 4 more pins than the motherboard connector. The power switch wires must be in the correct order since the heatsink fan turns on right?

Can this be a problem with the connector for my case switch/led's or is my power supply too weak? Any other suggestions? Thanks 🙂

I would get a decent-quality 350W+ unit. If they had a 400W Antec SmartPower, that would be better than a no-name store-brand one. If you want something premium, Seasonic has a pretty good reputation, or a Fortron or Enermax are OK too.

Hmm..I think you might be right. My PSU just has the 20 pin power connector but no 4 pin. I looked at the motherboard again and there is a spot for a 4 pin connector. I'll pick up a new PSU today and let you guys know how it worked out. Thanks!
