New mobo selection issue

Planning on building a new system soon... when I build them I go balls out and build something really nice and keep it for a couple years and then restart the process. Well, I'm trying to decide what mobo I want to buy. I really can't decide how I want to do this, be it sli or whatever. Any suggestions?

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR

Add an A64 3700+ San Diego, a gig of OCZ VX RAM, a pair of 6800 Ultras with some 15K RPM SCSI drives in RAID 0 then water cool the whole thing. You'd have an OK system. 😉

Seriously, the DFI Nforce4 boards are a good choice, whichever one you might get.

I'm not sure if I'd want to do the sli thing or not. it still sort of seems like overkill. Also, I don't know much about this board and it's switching between sli and single card operation. I know that asus is coming out w/ their sli premium board that's supposed to let you do this through either the bios or software (cant' remember which) would it be worth it to wait?

Is that something you plan on doing on a regular basis? The PCB card on the deluxe is a piece of cake. Software switching of SLI is not a feature I would pay for or wait for, but that's me.

software compatability? What do you mean? Lots of people have SLI systems running without problem. Most SLI problems are user error.

PEBKAC! but really... I thought a lot of games didn't make much of a difference between sli and non sli... so i'm having an issue trying to predict the future of games. Will 2 gf 6800 ultras = or exceed the next gen vid card performance?
