Question New mobo, re-install windows?

I just went from an ASUS B550-F WIFI (went dead) to an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi. Should I re-install Win 10, or just remove the drivers, and install the X570-E drivers?

I realize I will probably have to re-activate.

It's currently running fine, without doing anything!

You can reset Windows 10 if you want to, but the OS is pretty smart nowadays, so it's really not needed.

And if you're lucky enough, maybe the Windows activation will work with your new board (it happened for me when I went from an X470 to a B550 motherboard about 5 months back). I wasn't using a retail license either, so I was kind of surprised honestly.

sounds like a good time to upgrade to a new pcie and windows 11 (i have no idea the best reasons to upgrade to windows 11 but there should be a few good reasons : )

You shouldn't have to reinstall, just update any driver(s) as needed. I would not recommend Windows 11 at this point, especially on Ryzen or any Intel older than Alder Lake. Maybe if there was some feature you really wanted, that made it "worth it", but if so I would highly recommend doing the workaround upgrade that would allow you to disable TPM and secureboot.

I was aware of Ryzen 5000 + Win11 issues, but not for other "supported" CPUs. If you have some reading material, yes please!

Nope on Windows 11

I had to re-install everything. it wouldn't even re-activate. I even made a windows account, and when I tried to log in, everything would freeze. So, couldn't get into the desktop. After re-install, I had to re-activate over the phone. They just sent me a text to start inputting 9 blocks of numbers, but all is good. This product key is now tied to this mobo. Much better mobo it is.

Also, finally can use my Sapphire rx 6700xt, coming from a Sapphire vega 56.
