Well i installed everything tonight, went into bios and set everything up.. Stats are MSI k8n neo/a64 3000/ 1gb pc4000 OCZ / wd800jb / bfg 6800gt

Well i got these in today and used everything but the motherboard and ram earlier to game. It post's fine but RIGHT before it gets to the loading windows screen, it goes right back to the POST.

I switchd out with my old ram (yes i have them in the right slots) and my graphics card. So is the mobo bad? Any suggestions?

If you didn't reinstall Windows after swapping motherboards, that's Step #1 here. Also make sure your RAM's set to an adequate voltage for what it is... probably 2.7-2.8 volts for that stuff.

i didnt reinstall windows till after a couple hours when i got my other A64 board in, and i was going from a nforce2 --> via kt800 chipset.

I'll check voltages for kicks

holy crap!!! I forgot to plug the molex connector into my 6800 before turning it on.. WOWWOWOW bad idea.... HUGE squeel from the speaker.. RAAHHHH!!! i almost pee'd in my pants 😱

What voltage should i put my ram at?

also, i tried booting one more time, and i was watching right after the "verifying dmi pool data" it gave a QUICK blue screen of death (you know the one with all the letters =P) and then restarted

I don't know everything there is to know about your RAM but if it were me, I'd do 2.7 volts to get started and see how that goes.

Hey mech, wanna make a wager and see if ur right or not? ;D
Haha, I like these saucy newbies 😀 Anand musta switched brands, they're much spicier than the ones he was stocking last year

If you need to back up your data, then plunk your old mobo back in, burn your stuff to CD or move it to an extra drive or something, then put in your new mobo in and get started. Avoid getting a worm infection (how?) and you could be playing FarCry on your new rig in 1 to 2 hours. 🙂

Like everyone else said. YOU NEED TO REINSTALL WINDOWS!!!

Windows hates new mobos on old installs. Windows hates just about any major hardware change on a new install...stupid windows.

However, if it crashes when trying to verify your memory then your memory may be bad. If you have acccess to another computer, then download Memtest86 and make a bootable CD from their and test your memory. If it still messes up then your memory is bad. Wouldnt suprise me, as these things happpen. Also, if you are using two sticks of RAM, make sure they are in slots 1 and 3 and not 1 and 2 or 2 and 3.

DONT REINSTALL WINDOWS! All you have to do are some really simple steps.
Instead of reinstalling, boot up with the old motherboard, and follow these steps

If that doesnt work, THEN reinstall windows.
