So last night my current rig decided to start screwing up. I noticed a burning smell so shut it off. Sure enough one of my sticks of RDRam is fried. Now its RDRam which basically means its pointless to buy a new stick, mine as well just upgrade since its in need of it anyway.
Now my question. Im not looking to spend a fortune, but want to get something solid. I only need RAM/CPU/Mobo. I was thinking going with an Athlon, and getting a board that had AGP (for my 9800 pro) as well as PCIe for the future. Is a dual core processor worth it in terms of performance or should I be ok with a solid 64bit Athlon XP?
