Through an accident i had to replace my mobo & processor (long story). I've scanned a zillion pictures of my children on the hard drive, a time consuming task.
What if any am i going to need for the new system to recognize the old hard drive? Could/should i add a new hard drive, installing XP on the new one and make the old H/D a slave? any suggestions? thank.

Hi JMarkos and Welcome to the Forums!

The problem or issue you must deal includes involves the chipset drivers for the new mobo. The old OS on the old harddrive has the wrong chipset/mobo drivers on it. So, its unlikely that the PC will boot when you hook up the old HDD to the "new" PC.

Unfortunately, I do not an easy answer for you as I always reformat when changing mobo's (there is an AT article on how to change mobo's with out a reformat, but it deals with Win XP and win2k).

I think your idea of just getting a new HDD and installing XP, while using the old HDD for access to the images/pictures would work.
