New mobo, partitioned HDD and reinstalling Windows 7

Hey,

I have my 1155 motherboard and 2500k sitting in my kitchen. I just found out I cant afford a cheap HDD so I plan on using my old one that im using now.

The partition was made after Windows 7 was installed, I have C: and D:. After I build the new PC and load up Windows to reinstall, will it wipe C: and install a clean Windows 7? Or just replace Windows 7 on C: and leave whatever else is on it? Will I lose all my old running processes or will they be enabled after the reinstall?

I might actually wait a week so I can buy a cheap HDD and keep Windows on that and use my old one as data/backup. If reinstalling Windows is alot more simplier and less hassle then what I think it is then I wont bother. Any clarity on this would be helpful 🙂

Honsou.
